Land Rover & Surrey Minis Tournament 2008

Rawlings & Kensett, the butchers from Bookham High Street, sponsored the filming of the U12s Land Rover & Surrey Rugby Mini Festival at Dorking Rugby Club on 20th April. Thanks to their sponsorship School Sports Action TV filmed this huge annual U12s tournament so that players, their families, friends and relations round the world can watch the highlights free on the Internet.

Keith Weston, proprietor of Rawlings & Kensett, also presented the Rawlings & Kensett Butchers Man of the Match trophy and a streak platter to Tom from Richmond Football Club as the outstanding player in the U12s Final. Keith said, “I think it’s a great idea to encourage kids to get involved in all aspects of sport. Giving them a chance to commentate live means even those kids not playing can still join in. I really enjoyed watching and hearing our stars of the future in action.”

We had a great time filming the U12s games on Pitches A and B, including a thrilling final. We also had some excellent commentaries from boys at the tournament. Congratulations go to Freddie, Oliver, and Connor, all of whom havw been inducted to the School Sports Action TV Commentators Hall of Fame.

Well done to all the teams that took part, especially the joint winners Richmond and Kings who both deserved a share of the trophy. Congratulations too to Tom of Richmond who was voted Man of the Match by Keith Weston, proprietor of Rawlings & Kensett. Tom received a magnificent trophy and a steak platter from Keith and has been inducted to the School Sports Action TV Players Hall of Fame.

SSATV thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Land Rover & Surrey Minis Festival. Organising 2,000 players and over 1,000 cars and coaches requires a lot of planning and help.
